Old Mine Road Trail (Sussex County)

Trail Map

Old Mine Road hugs the Delaware River from Warren County, through Sussex County and into New York State, and is the primary access road for activities in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. There are so many places to view wildlife along this stretch of road, we are devoting two trails to it; one with sites in Sussex and the other with sites in Warren. You’ll appreciate the remoteness of this area, but make sure you have everything you need before you embark.

The Sussex trail begins at Blue Mountain and Crater Lake; visits some hidden treasures along the Flat Brook then takes you to the scenic Buttermilk Falls. From there it heads north so you can try your luck along Van Ness Road and at Kittatinny Pond and then on to sites like Flatbrook Roy WMA, Hainesville WMA Duck Pond and ends at High Point State Park.

The Trail Directions are in the first posting of the forum below.  Please use the forum to enter any comments or feedback regarding this trail. Registration is required.

If you are already in Teetertown Ravine, it is considerably shorter to continue on Hollowbrook Rd (~0.75 mile, becomes paved after leaving the ravine) to the end at Pleasant Grove Rd, then turn left & go ~0.5 mile to Mountain Farm section entrance, rather than returning to Sliker Rd as in the directions. When leaving Mt Farm, go left on Pleasant Grove back to Sliker and follow directions to Point Mountain.
