Pequest Hatchery Trail (Warren County)

To Pequest Trout Hatchery

From Interstate 80 take Exit 19/CR 517: Proceed south towards Hackettstown approximately 5 miles. At the first traffic light in downtown Hackettstown turn Right onto U.S. Route 46. After approximately 9.5 miles follow the signs and turn Left into entrance for Hatchery.

To Old Farm Sanctuary

Turn Right onto U.S. Route 46 East. After 6.0 miles turn Left onto Water Street.
After 1.3 miles turn Left into parking lot for Old Farm Sanctuary, look for the New Jersey Audubon sign.

To Mountain Lake

Return to U.S. Route 46 West and proceed 4.3 miles turning Right onto CR 617 North/Green Pond Road.  Travel 0.8 miles and bear Right onto Mountain Lake Road.  After 1.3 miles the road will become Lakeside Drive West and to the Right it is Lakeside Drive South. To reach the boat launch, beach and parking stay to the Left and proceed 0.4 miles and turn into parking for beach and boat launch on the Right. There are also some parking spaces along the right side of the road. To reach parking on the East turn Right onto Lakeside Drive South and follow if for 0.6 miles around to the Left (it will turn to Lakeside Drive East) turning Right into parking area (dirt lot). To reach the hiking trails at the Mountain Lakes Section of Jenny Jump from either side proceed North following the main road around the lake and the trailhead is at the far Northern section along Lakeside Drive North.

To Beaver Brook WMA

Return to U.S. Route 46 West and after 2.9 miles turn Right at the traffic light onto Upper Sarepta Road. After 0.7 and 0.8 miles there is parking and at 1.0 miles there is a trailhead.

To Buckhorn WMA

Return to U.S Route 46 traveling east. After 2.0 miles turn Right at the traffic light onto CR 519 South. After 1.7 miles turn Left at the stop sign and blinking traffic light onto CR 623 South. After 1.9 miles turn Right onto Buckhorn Drive. After 1.3 miles turn Right into drive and follow down hill to parking. For an alternate parking area turn Left out of driveway and after 1.1 miles turn Left into dirt driveway and follow to parking area. There are no signs for this parking area. This parking area provides access to the abandoned orchard area of Buckhorn WMA

To Lake Marguerite

Return to County Road 623 South (Brass Castle Road) turning Right at the Stop Sign
and After 2.4 miles turn left onto Jonestown Road. Less than .1 miles turn left into driveway (between fences)

To Oxford Lake

Turn Left out of driveway onto Jonestown Road. After 1.8 miles turn left onto Kaufman Street, look for the Oxford Lake sign. Follow 0.8 miles parking area.

To Roaring Rock Park

Exit the lake area and turn Right onto Jonestown Road. After 1.8 miles turn left onto CR 623 South/Brass Castle Road. After 0.7 miles turn Right onto CR 647 West/Harmony-Brass Castle Road. After 0.6 miles turn Left into parking area.

To Merrill Creek Reservoir

Turn left onto CR 647 West/Harmony-Brass Castle Road. After 2.3 miles turn onto Montana Road and follow signs for Merrill Creek. Montana Road becomes Alan Mills Road. After 1.6 miles turn Left onto Richline Road. After 0.3 turn Right onto Merrill Creek Road. After 0.3 turn Right into Merrill Creek Reservoir at the sign. After 0.3 miles turn Right into parking area.

To Hawk Watch from Merrill Creek Office

Exit Merrill Creek parking lot. After 0.3 miles turn Left at stop sign onto Merrill Creek Road. After 0.3 miles turn Left at stop sign onto Richline Road. After 0.3 miles turn Left at the stop sign onto Fox Farm Road. After 1.5 turn Left into driveway for I/O Tower and hawk watch area

To Alpha/Pohatcong Grasslands

Turn left out of driveway onto Fox Farm Road. After 1.4 turn Left at stop sign onto Decker Road this becomes Fox Farm Road. After 1.0 miles turn left onto CR 519 South/ Uniontown Road. After 2.7 miles turn left onto US Route 22 following signs for CR 519 truck route. After 0.8 miles turn Right at stop sign onto US Route 122 following signs for CR 519 truck route. After 0.9 miles turn Left onto CR 519 South following signs for CR 519 truck route. After 1.7 miles you will pass under Interstate 78 – take the first Right onto CR 635/Snyders Road. After 1.3 miles turn Right onto Oberly Road.
