Voorhees State Park Trail (Hunterdon County)

Trail Map

The trail begins at Voorhees State Park where you can speak to park officials about the wildlife viewing opportunities on the 7 trails or maybe visit the observatory. From there it’s a short ride to the center of High Bridge, where you might want to stop for a bite to eat before you access the 7-mile Columbia trail that takes you above the Raritan River and provides access to Ken Lockwood Gorge. In case you don’t want to walk to Ken Lockwood our trails will take you through Ken Lockwood Gorge before proceeding onto Teetertown Preserve, we will visit both the Mountain Farm site along with the Ravine itself, along the way you might want to stop and take advantage of the amenities on this road. From there it’s off to the west for Point Mountain and Miquin Woods, both Hunterdon County Park sites, before we swing over to Hampton Boro Park for a look at the Musconetcong River. You will cross State Highway 31 on the way, a short distance north you will find a gas station, rest rooms and food. We will wrap up our journey at Charlestown Reserve for a hike through this second generation oak-hickory forest habitat.

Name suggestion

Hello Linda, Laurie.

Nicely done.  In regards to a name, how about "Hunterdon Highlands" or "Hunterdon's Highlands."

Re: Name suggestion

Hunterdon Highlands is appropriate, this trail contains the highest elevation in Hunterdon Cty and some of the steepest hills.

Re: Name suggestion

I like Hunterdon's Highlands as well. Also, the Home Page says "Voorhee's", I think it should be Voorhees.
